Dear Franklin School Community:

The Franklin Township District Administration regrets any confusion caused by a recent postcard distributed to registered voters. This postcard was designed and recommended by the district’s public information consultant and approved by district administration. It contained information that was perceived as misleading. Unfortunately, administration did not identify this misleading information before distribution, and the board was not made aware of the content of this postcard.
From the onset of this bond referendum process, administration has consistently communicated in public meetings, town halls, and on the district website (under the FAQ section) that, should the bond referendum fail, the anticipated tax savings for taxpayers would be approximately $500 on an average assessed home of $425,000. If the referendum passes, the estimated tax reduction would be approximately $396 on an average assessed home of $425,000. This reduction is due to the current debt service maturing in February 2025.
