Notice to Residents from the Construction Official

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATLY

The Township municipal building will be closed to the general public effective immediately until further notice. HOWEVER, the business of the Township will continue, with some modifications.

The Construction Office will be operating on a revised weekly schedule. In order to provide the necessary inspection service, we ask that you be patient and realize our abilities will be limited moving forward due to the National Public Health Emergency. Our goal is to make every attempt to keep Contractors and Homeowners moving forward with any current projects.

We will also be accepting all new applications in our drop box provided. If you need to drop off documents or permits for review, there is an Application/Plans/Drop Box located at the rear entrance door of the Municipal Building at 202 Sidney Road. The appropriate staff will receive these documents throughout the week. Please be sure to include contact information and multiple emails including the contractor and the owner.

We will make every attempt to keep projects moving forward. Inspections will continue with projects primarily outdoors and we can do some indoor inspections if the building or structure is not occupied. We ask that the Contractors and Homeowners involved verify they are in good health and please keep the six-foot separation for social distancing as requested by the CDC. Inspectors may not preform inspections if they feel unsafe or compromised in any fashion. This is a case by case situation.

Payments for permits may continue to be made by check. ALL checks shall be made payable to “Franklin Township”.  Please consider utilizing postal mail for payments and other correspondence at: Township of Franklin Attention Construction 202 Sidney Road Pittstown, NJ 08867. If you wish to make a payment in person, be advised that there is a Check Drop Box located at the rear entrance to the building.
